The Council - no parking permit jokes please....

Well it seems that the autumn is a time for new endings and new beginnings - as five senior staff leave the Redbee creative department - three of them set up a new motion design and branding company called simply “The Council” - I gather the idea for the name comes from the idea of a 'council' of wise people - obviously nothing to do with borough councils then....

Made up of managing director Jeff Conrad, creative director Kevin Hill and uber Director of Production Sophia Pendar-Hughes.  The latter two spearheaded the creative team behind 'Dave' and the other nine UKTV channel rebrands last year.  Obviously they have a ton of experience behind them - just look at their website and you can see the calibre of clients they have already worked with whilst at RBM.

I asked them why they left Red Bee and this was their (collective) response:
We all believe it’s important to keep challenging yourself and we all left Red Bee looking for that new challenge.  Creating The Council seemed like the perfect way to fulfill this.  We want to explore new ways of working; to be more open to new influences and to be able to approach projects from new angles.  Our aim is to work in a flexible, creative and agile way in response to any brief.

It seems they have not been slacking either and have already worked with one major UK broadcaster, Our Green Planet and are working with Shine Group in the UK along with The Home Shopping Service (Part of the M6 group, France), Digital+, and MDR Fernsehen in Germany.  I, along with many Red Bee staff, I suspect, will be watching with interest to see what they do next....
